Queen.one

Queen One is a commerce and marketing technology company focused on blending creativity, tech, and storytelling to better connect brands with consumers. They are building expansive platforms designed to supplant today’s aging e-commerce websites and communication channels, transforming online shopping and product discovery.

I joined Queen One when they acquired Rejoiner, for whom I’d been working as a backend Python engineer.

They have put together a team of stellar engineers and designers. It’s been a lot of fun being a part of the team that is building out the sort of scalable platform that has been persistent stretch-goal on the long-term roadmap for the teams I’ve previously been a part of.

Since early 2025, when I joined the company, I’ve helped move unmigratably large databases from one cloud provider to another, modernized crusty legacy systems, picked up Go and Terraform, and now I’m authoring skills for a small army of AI agents.

Senior Engineer

Rejoiner

Rejoiner offered a unified platform for managed email, SMS, and postcard campaigns to boost e-commerce retention and revenue. They combinined intelligent tools with expert, hands-on support.

When I joined the team, Rejoiner was a small marketing technology company with a small, but capable team whose customer base was, as they say, three feet wide and a mile deep. They had fun problems and a lofty set of goals, and they were super-easy to get along with.

My role there varied a lot, but I was primarily working to keep the system stable, performant, and operating within the constraints of the company’s budget.

Senior Software Engineer

Zerocater

Zerocater is a corporate catering and cafeteria company focused on providing diverse and customized dining solutions for workplaces and events. They offer personalized catering services, chef-led corporate cafeterias, and an AI-driven platform (CaterAi) to streamline meal planning, staff booking, and event execution based on budget and dietary needs.

ZeroCater had some interesting backend and frontend work for me to tackle and I enjoyed it. I literally forged iron with those folks! This was also my second experience at a YC company and it was the first team I had worked with who had a truly deep culture of TDD. Coincidence?

Senior Software Engineer

Priceonomics

Priceonomics operated as a content marketing agency and a data studio. They helped companies turn their internal data into engaging, data-driven content, articles, and reports designed to generate press mentions, perform well in search, and drive customer leads.

My first experience working for a YC startup, Priceonomics had me staring down the throat of a firehose of Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter searching for content we recognized. We met that challenge with a write-thru cache that was one of the most performant bits of software I’d ever helped develop. I still talk to some of these folks. Sterling individuals, all of them.
